Urban Art Laboratory presents Vita Corpus, the exciting public art installation and final presentation of work from Downtown High students. Vita Corpus is the result of 31 weeks of discussion, field trips, research, planning and art making, done alongside an Artist and an Urban Planner, serving as an artistic enhancement of an otherwise abandoned section of Vermont St, adjacent to the McKinley Square hillside in Potrero Hill. The students of Urban Art Laboratory focused on the theme of community, symbolic in the organic bubble formations, representing blood platelets and the interconnected veins connected by larger structures, representing connective tissue. The platelets (bubbles) contain visible fragments and glimpses into the students lives, bringing themselves and their communities into the sculpture. Vita Corpus enhances the landscape of the space, accenting its curves and the natural environment using LED lights which can be viewed in the evening.

Join us for an afternoon of celebrating the art installation with student performances and a potluck lunch!
